BIBAK Suomi Ry is a non-governmental organisation dedicated to preserving and promoting Igorot and Cordilleran culture in Finland. We support immigrants, organise cultural events, and foster unity within the Filipino community.

About Us

What is BIBAK Suomi?

The organisation is called BIBAK Suomi Ry. The abbreviation “BIBAK” represents the provinces of Benguet, Ifugao, Bontoc, Apayao, and Kalinga. This name was chosen because it resonates with many Igorots and Cordillerans, both in the Philippines and abroad, despite being somewhat outdated.

Currently, the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) of the Philippines includes the provinces of Abra, Apayao, Baguio, Benguet, Ifugao, Kalinga, and Mountain Province. Most members of BIBAK Suomi have a deep ancestral and cultural connection to these provinces.

Our mission is to preserve and promote Igorot culture while supporting the integration of our fellow immigrants into Finnish society.

Activities

Organise cultural events.
Engage in educational activities that inform future generations and others interested in the Igorot culture, helping them to understand and appreciate it.
Promote unity, solidarity, and the advancement of the Igorot and Cordilleran communities in Finland.
Preserve and share Igorot cultural customs and traditions with community members and others interested both within and outside Finland.
Provide support to Igorot and Cordilleran immigrants for their social and cultural integration into life in Finland.
Stand up against any attacks that may harm our ethnic identity, customs, traditions, beliefs, and aspirations in a humane and civilised manner.

Getting together is an important aspect of both cultural and social life. In many cultures, gathering together is a way to celebrate important events and milestones, share traditions, and strengthen community bonds. Whether it's a family gathering, a religious ceremony, or a community festival, the act of coming together creates a sense of unity and belonging.
